History 2011 - today

To mark the occasion of Continental's anniversary on October 8th, diverse individual celebrations took place at many of the more than 190 Continental locations around the world. In the lobby of the company’s headquarters in Hanover, items from the company's 140-year history were exhibited.

At the IAA 2011, the automotive megatrends safety, the environment, information and affordable cars, as well as e-mobility, are presented under the motto "Driving Future Mobility". Novel driver assistance and brake systems; vehicle access, networking and operating concepts; drive technologies; sensors; interior materials and tires are just some of the innovations.

In taking over the automotive A/C line operations of the Parker Hannifin Corporation, based in Collierville, Tennessee, U.S.A., ContiTech is bolstering its business in hose lines for the automotive industry.

The new "AIBA" unit at the Contidrom allows for driverless testing on dry and wet roads regardless of the weather. In full operation, around 100,000 braking operations can be conducted in a 300-meter-long hall.

The Continental brand is being modified to better meet future business strategy and market challenges. This involves an overhaul of the brand character, a clarification and fine-tuning of brand positioning and a fresh, modern design derived therefrom. As tagline under the logo, the new central idea – "The Future in Motion" – supports Continental's positioning and reflects the essence of the brand personality. The new market presence was introduced at the Annual Shareholders' Meeting on May 15, 2013.
