Why are online assessments used as part of the recruitment process?

Online assessments are a reliable and valid way of understanding a candidate’s fit with Continental. The assessments are a good way of standardizing our selection process. Our online assessments are designed to predict future performance and success of candidates at Continental.

What kind of online assessment does Continental use?

Continental uses two different online assessments. Depending on the job you are applying for, there may be one or two assessments to complete: our Continental Online Assessment 1 (NRT/LRT) assessing cognitive abilities (including numerical and logical reasoning) and our Continental Online Assessment 2 (CoMo) assessing conscientiousness and motivation. In the first assessment you will find questions relating to numerical reasoning that focus on the candidate’s ability to deal with numbers accurately. In addition you will find questions relating to logical reasoning where it is important to look at logical consequences or conclusions of certain preconditions. In the second assessment you will find questions relating to your preferred working style and other job-related preferences.

Is there a time limit for answering the questions?

No, there is no time limit for answering the questions on the online assessments. So use as much time as you need. From our experience, it pays to work at your own speed. Please note that we will not be evaluating the amount of time needed to complete the online assessments. 

How much time do I have to take for the online assessment?

There is no time limit for answering the questions on the online assessments. That said, candidates typically require 30 minutes to complete Continental Online Assessment 1 (NRT/LRT) and 10 minutes to complete Continental Online Assessment 2 (CoMo). Time is not evaluated as a factor; we only look at the results of the assessments.

Can I take a short break between the online assessments?

You can take a short break between Continental Online Assessment 1 (NRT/LRT) and Continental Online Assessment 2 (CoMo), if you are required to complete both assessments. Within the framework of Online Assessment 1 (NRT/LRT), you may also take a short break (less than 20 minutes) between the numerical reasoning section and the logical reasoning section. However, we advise you to complete all sections of the assessment in a single sitting.

How many questions do I have to answer?

Continental Online Assessment 1 (NRT/LRT) uses a computer adaptive testing technology. This means that the questions are uniquely tailored to the candidate’s abilities. As such, the number of questions may vary and so a progress bar showing the remaining time cannot be displayed. Continental Online Assessment 2 (CoMo) consists of 38 questions.

Why do I have to take a numerical and logical reasoning assessment?

These assessments are designed to measure the candidate's ability to correctly interpret numerical and logical information and use it to solve problems and make decisions. This ability is required in a variety of jobs at Continental. Regardless of the position, it is beneficial to effectively identify critical work-related issues and draw conclusions from numerical data and logical results. Job-specific requirements are assessed in the later stages of our recruitment process.

Why do I have to complete the assessments within three days?

The online assessments are part of your application material. All candidates are asked to complete the online assessments within three days to ensure a fast and lean recruitment process.

What if I am unable to conduct the assessments due to additional needs?

What happens if the Internet connection is broken during the online assessments?

If the interruption lasts for only a few moments, you can resume the assessment. If this does not work, you may have to close the window, wait for around 30 minutes for technical reasons and then click "Again" on the assessment link to resume the assessment. You will start from where you last left off.

What if I experience technical problems?

Which Internet browsers and operating systems can I use to complete the Continental Online Assessments?

Please ensure you use one of the supported browsers listed below. Tablets and smartphones are also supported, although we recommend you use a computer.
