Employees may want to take time off for any number of reasons – to clear their heads, follow their dreams or enjoy new experiences. Ideally, they will finance this time by “saving up” in advance – working full time in the run-up to their sabbatical but receiving only a part-time salary. During the sabbatical, they are paid the salary they have saved. This has the advantage of allowing their contract and benefits to continue uninterrupted. In countries where this type of savings model is not possible, we have developed individual solutions that comply with national law. Any employee may take a sabbatical while employed by Continental, as long as it is compatible with their role.
