Safety and a decrease in emissions required for urban traffic

A decrease in emissions and the reduction of accidents are becoming ever more important in urban conurbations with rapidly increasing traffic volume. Politicians are responding to these developments, for example with more stringent emissions regulations, which put delivery vehicles under pressure. In the urban traffic booth area, the public will be able to see Continental’s solutions for sustainable urban traffic, and how the “Vision Zero” objective – that is to say, zero road fatalities – is being approached. Here, for example, Continental will be presenting a right-turn assistant enriched with artificial intelligence.

On the long haul: Digitalization opens entirely new perspectives

Those engaged in long-haul transportation are confronted by many challenges. Legally prescribed safety features in response to the increasing number of severe truck accidents place great demands on manufacturers; shipping agents are having to further maximize their operating times in the face of strong competition. And the answers that Continental’s exhibition visitors will be given are just as numerous. Examples include new V2X connectivity technologies such as 5G, which is necessary for applications such as platooning; sensors such as the High-Flash-Lidar; and systems for exhaust gas treatment all the way to lightweight components.

Real-time data for more efficiency in the shipping office

Efficiency is also the buzzword in fleet management. Anyone aspiring to hold their own against strong competition and with relatively low margins needs a digital control center which also uses real-time data. Continental is approaching this problem comprehensively and is developing solutions for many parts of the truck. In the shipping office, the third area of the exhibition booth, visitors can find out everything about Continental’s fleet management solutions for reducing total operating costs. From the new, intelligent digital tachograph DTCO 4.0, whose high-quality and secure data help to further optimize logistics processes, to the ContiConnect digital tire monitoring system.

Hose lines for electric & hybrid vehicles
Sophisticated thermal management system increases battery life and range. The batteries in electric vehicles work at their most efficient at temperatures between 10°C and 30 °C. This temperature spectrum enables long ranges, extends battery life and allows the batteries to work more efficiently. For that reason, the batteries have to be either cooled or heated, depending on the outside temperature. ContiTech offers hose lines for battery temperature control with oil, cooling water or refrigerant. © Continental AG
