More transparency and higher availability of buses and trucks – the new Continental workshop service platform

Frankfurt, July 5, 2018. The technology company Continental has expanded its digital product range for commercial vehicle fleet operators. Thanks to the TruckOn booking portal, fleet managers and freight forwarders can now book the next workshop service – throughout Europe and around the clock. Companies can maximize the uptime of their vehicles by making efficient use of drivers’ rest periods for services. This means, for example, that a truck on a tour lasting several days can be serviced during daily rest periods of up to 11 hours. “Given the consistently high cost pressure in the transport sector, TruckOn creates real added value for the industry,” emphasizes Dr. Lutz Scholten, Head of Tachographs, Telematics & Services at Continental. “TruckOn stands for workshop booking and fleet management 4.0. This makes us a pioneer in the market.” From the IAA Commercial Vehicles Hanover 2018 on, interested fleet managers can register free of charge under TruckOn.com and book services.

Search queries and ratings provide orientation

Fleet managers can now book appointments with just a few clicks, selecting the desired service for a vehicle, the location and the date. The filter function allows further restrictions, e.g. to the price range. All the relevant offers are clearly displayed in a list of results that are easy to compare – including the scope of the services and prices. When a fleet manager books a service via the portal, the vehicle-specific data is transmitted to the workshop, enabling the mechanics there to make all the necessary preparations in advance. TruckOn also delivers the relevant information in the language set by the user. Currently, fleets from seven European countries can register, including Germany and Austria. Once an order has been completed, customers have the opportunity to evaluate the service via a five-star system. These evaluations create trust and give other customers orientation – especially when they’re booking a service in an unknown workshop that’s far away in another country. The portal also provides information on discounts offered by workshops.

Fleet management 4.0

Another advantage of TruckOn is a dashboard that clearly shows all ordered service appointments. Fleet managers can also use the service scheduling calendar to see which trucks were serviced when and where, what work was carried out and when the next service is due – so TruckOn also helps to improve digital fleet management and make operational processes more efficient.
