Hanover, 09/14/2015. Rally is one of the favorite sports in the Czech Republic. The biggest race with the longest tradition is Barum Czech Rally Zlín that took place for the 45th time from August 28th to 30th in Otrokovice and its surroundings. Overall 200,000 rally fans gathered for the event, being named after the local tire brand Continental Barum as a longtime partner of the rally.
One of the events taking place during this year’s 45th anniversary of the rally was a campaign called “Drive on Marrow”. The aim was to attract new bone marrow donors and to invite general public to enroll in Czech National Registry of Bone Marrow Donors. As part of the plant’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) involvement in the local community, the management of the tire plant in Otrokovice decided to engage in and sponsor this campaign. “There are many registered potential bone marrow donors among our employees in the tire plant, and I was inspired by them”, said Libor Láznička, the Plant Manager in Otrokovice. He therefore became the sponsor of the campaign and its personal supporter. Among other registered potential donors was also Jan Černošek, Factory Controlling Director who said: “This is the least one can do for another person.”Overall, 571 new donors registered during the ”Drive on Marrow“ campaign, tens of which were employees of the tire plant in Otrokovice. Karel Špaček, Miroslav Kuba and Libor Slavík, operators of Mold Production Department, as well as Radek Poslt, HR Generalist, already had the chance to save lives of people in the Czech Republic or abroad.
